Melissa Anderson, Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), has over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. She received her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Social Work from Walden University and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from St. Ambrose University. Melissa has extensive experience with co-occurring substance use issues, trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, adoption, foster care, couples counseling & veteran work.
She is trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques which includes: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) & Mindfulness.
Melissa accepts a variety of insurances and offers self-pay options for clients. Melissa is currently accepting clients ages 18 on up and is also accepting couples for couples counseling. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Life Adjustments/Transitions, PTSD, stress management & couples work.
Lastly, personally Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, reading, playing volleyball, playing cribbage / cards and cheering on the Hawkeyes!
